We offer help and protection to women and children who have been victims of violence or received threats of violence from people close to them. Kvindehjemmet is a privately-owned women\u2019s shelter. Acceptance is a key word, and we try to always take a respectful and non-judgmental approach to women and children. Starting with a narrative approach, we work to overcome the effects of violence. We regard women and children as experts about their own lives. During their stay, we work to clarify and support the knowledge and skills they bring with them. The aim is, among other things, to reduce the feelings of guilt, shame and paralysis. We also have a security team that makes sure that the house is always manned, day and night. The staff members who work directly with the women and children are persons who all have specialist knowledge about violence, crises and traumas. The social work part of Kvindehjemmet is managed by an assistant manager. There is also someone who works with analysis and communications, a secretary, a bookkeeper, a caretaker and two service workers. She has, among other things, worked with vulnerable women and she has broad-based leadership experience.
