A temporary home in the heart of Copenhagen
A women’s shelter is a temporary home. Here you can get peace and quiet and work on saying no to violence. At Kvindehjemmet, you can talk to social workers, pedagogues, support workers and a psychologist about the challenges that often come with having been a victim of violence. If you have children, we have something special for them that we call Børnetræet.
Here at Kvindehjemmet, there is room for up to 36 women and about 30 children. Those staying here are living on five different floors. Each floor has its own life with many rooms and a communal kitchen. You will have your own apartment with two rooms and a bath/toilet. There will be staff here 24/7.
Kvindehjemmet is also for children
If you have children, the apartments are arranged so you can live together as a family. We also have a playroom and a playground. In Børnetræet, children can share their thoughts and worries with the staff who are familiar with the challenges of discussing violence with children. In Børnetræet, you can also work on maintaining a normal daily life with school or some other institution.
